Report on activities of Standards Committee prepared by Society representatives for the November 2005 Council Meeting

EV-010 (AV/5) Committee - Acoustics Community Noise

As a AAS representative on the joint Standards Australia / Standards NZ Committee EV-010 - Acoustics Community Noise, I present this brief report on the 2004/2005 activities of the committee.

There were no meetings of the Standards Australia EV-010 Committee over the last year. The last meeting to be held was on 11-12 September 2003.

The next meeting (in 2006) is likely to be for the new working group Subcommittee EV-0l0-09 Construction Noise, which is reviewing the standard AS 2436-1981 "Guide to noise control on construction, maintenance and demolition sites" (from committee AV-006). Before the next meeting can occur, the subcommittee is waiting for: 1) greater representation from more relevant organisations, and 2) the release of the draft Construction Noise policy by the NSW EPA/DEC.

I look forward to continuing to represent the AAS on the Standards Australia Committee EV-010 and Subcommittees EV-010-04 and EV-010-09 throughout the coming year.
