Report on activities of Standards Committee prepared by Society representatives for the November 2005 Council Meeting

EV/16 Acoustics Wind Turbine Noise

As a AAS representative on the joint Standards Australia / Standards NZ Committee EV-016 - Acoustics Wind Turbine Noise, I present this brief report on the 2004/05 activities of the committee.

There have been no meetings this last year of the Standards Australia EV-016 Committee. The committee is in the process of developing an Australian Standard "Acoustics - Measurement, prediction and assessment of noise from wind turbine generators". The standard should provide a suitable/applicable framework for government authorities (state and local) as well as industry.

At the last meeting on 14 Sept 04, public comments from the first Public Draft DR 04173 were discussed and addressed. In addition, a number of actions for committee members were raised, mainly relating to revising sections on the draft standard. Once these actions are closed out, a revised draft will be sent out for public comment (and posted on the SAT website) around early 2006.

I look forward to continuing to represent the AAS on the Standards Australia Committee EV-0 16 throughout the coming year.
