Symposium on Environmental Noise Issues

The Australian Acoustical Society (AAS) will be holding a full day symposium on environmental noise issues on Friday June 17 at the University of Adelaide, North Terrace Campus. The symposium will comprise speakers from a broad range of backgrounds who regularly deal with noise issues such as planners, lawyers, health professionals and Members of the AAS.

The course will cover the principles and practice of environmental noise assessment, control and planning. It is a basic course that will include practical information that can be applied to real situations in the workplace OR the community and will be presented at a level appropriate for people who wish to gain contemporary knowledge of the subjects.

A 'hands-on' measurement and analysis session will also be included to enable a better understanding of what is involved in environmental noise assessment and its limitations.

The program will include presentations on planning issues, transport impacts, Local Government involvement, the nexus between health and environmental impacts, a view from the legal profession, prediction methods, current and future noise policy, and an interactive measurement session.

Registration fees for the full day will be $440 including GST which covers lunch, morning and afternoon teas, drinks and light snacks.
